  • Measures flow in partially filled pipes and open channels

  • No flume or weir required

  • 4-20mA and Relay outputs for connection to Samplers and SCADA

  • Powered with built-in rechargeable NiMH batteries

  • 2 million point data logger with USB output to Flash drives

  • Backlit LCD display for flow rate, totalizer and menu system

Portable, Battery-powered and Easy to Set-up

The MantaRay Portable Area-Velocity Flow Meter measures flow in open channels, partially filled and surcharged pipes using an ultrasonic sensor. It's designed for monitoring stormwater, sewage, industrial effluent, irrigation water and natural streams. The MantaRay displays and datalogs flow rate and total flow and connects to samplers, SCADA and telemetry systems.

Calibration is simple: enter the pipe diameter or channel dimensions and the MantaRay automatically computes and displays the flow rate and total on its backlit LCD display. Mount the sensor at the bottom of the pipe or channel and hang the IP67 electronics case above the high water level.

MantaRay Installation
MantaRay Hydrodynamic Sensor Hydrodynamic Ultrasonic Sensor

The MantaRay uses a submerged ultrasonic sensor to continuously measure flow or  reverse flow in open channels, partially filled or surcharged pipes. The sensor is a completely sealed ultrasonic unit with no orifices or ports. It is hydrodynamically shaped and designed to shed deposits and stringers for reliable operation in sewage, stormwater and stream flow applications.

The QZ02L sensor mounts inside the pipe or at the bottom of an open channel. No special compounds, tools or hardware are required. A stainless steel mounting bracket is included and a size range of optional pipe bands are available for sensor installation in manholes.

  Stores 2-Million data points

The MantaRay stores up to 2-million data points including level, velocity and water temperature. For reduced power consumption during flow surveys you can activate the MantaRay's "sleep mode" to conserve energy for extended operation.

Powered with built-in Batteries

The MantaRay's built-in, rechargeable batteries power the flow meter. You can also connect external 12 or 24VDC batteries to extend the MantaRay's operating time indefinitely. Or connect the battery charger (supplied) for continuous operation with 4-20mA and relay operation.

Greyline Logger PC Software Includes Greyline Logger Windows software

Greyline Logger software is included with each MantaRay. Use this powerful program to open and view data log files in graph and table formats. You can generate flow reports with minimum, maximum average and total flow or export the data to Excel spreadsheets and database programs.

Greyline Pipe Band Sensor Mounting for Area-Velocity Flow Surveys

Do it the easy way - use a stainless steel pipe band for MantaRay sensor mounting. You can install the sensor and tie wrap the cable in place before you enter the manhole. Then insert the pipe band into the manhole inlet pipe and tighten the scissor-jack to expand the band for a friction fit inside the pipe.

Pipe Mounting Bands are available from Greyline in a range of sizes for common pipe diameters.

  Greyline introduces the new MantaRay
Portable Area-Velocity Flow Meter

The new MantaRay is introduced at WEFTEC 2015 in Chicago, Illinois. The battery-powered MantaRay flowmeter measures, displays, transmits, totalizes and datalogs flow in open channels and partially filled pipes. It is designed to measure sewage, stormwater, irrigation water and stream flow.

For semi-permanent installations...

Check out the AVFM 5.0 Area-Velocity Flow Meter for applications in partially filled pipes and channels. It displays and transmits flow, level and velocity with three 4-20mA outputs.
