PT500 Portable Ultrasonic Flow Meter
Recommended for clean fluids like water, glycol, oil and most chemicals.
The Portaflow PT500 ultrasonic sensors clamp on the outside of
vertical or horizontal pipes from 0.51" to 78" (13 to 2000 mm) outside diameter. The ultrasonic signal travels through all common metal and plastic pipe materials. Sensors can be mounted without shutting down flow and there is no obstruction or pressure drop.
Flow rate and totalizer are displayed continuously along with battery status, signal
strength. Press one key to instantly change the units of flow measurement (e.g. from gallons to
liters). Real time flow can be displayed in large numeric values or as a graph.
Portaflow calibration is easy with the onscreen menu system. Enter the pipe diameter, wall thickness and pipe material, and the
PT500 calculates the optimum mounting method and separation distance for the sensors.
The PT500 includes two Sensor pairs: one set for small pipes and another
for large pipe sizes.
Calibration parameters
can be stored for up to twenty different sites so that operators
can recall calibration setups from the Portaflow memory. Store
readings with the built-in 98,000 point data logger. Logs can be
displayed onscreen in text or graph formats and downloaded
through USB and RS232 outputs.
The PT500 includes two sensor
pairs, stainless steel guiderail and mounting clamps, sensor
cables, coupling compound and AC charger with a rugged IP67
carry case. It operates up to 16 hours from internal batteries
and recharges overnight.
Portaflow PT500 Installation
Watch this demonstration as we install
and calibrate a Portable PT500 Transit Time Flow Meter for a potable
water application.
The ultrasonic transducers are
mounted on 10" PVC pipe. The Portaflow menu system calculates the
transducer separation distance and mounting method. Once the
transducers are clamped on to the outside of the pipe, the PT500
reads flow instantly.
